Choose from 12 Hobby Kits that contain all you need to try out a new hobby! Scroll down to take a look at our current collection of kits. To reserve a Hobby Kit, call the library at 254-582-7385 now! Limit one (1) kit per family. Hobby Kits are available for checkout whenever the library is open.
CRAFTING HOURS
Crafting appointments can be requested here. Appointments are scheduled based on staff availability. Appointments may not be booked more than 7 days in advance, and each appointment is limited to a 2 hour maximum. Users may not book more than 2 crafting appointments per week. See the Hobby Library and Crafting Hours Guidelines for more information.
While the Hobby Library's Hobby Kits are available for checkout, the Hobby Library features even more equipment and hobbies that are for in-library use during weekly Crafting Hours. Discover and learn to use a 3D printer, sewing machine, vinyl cutter, and heat press. Users are also able to utilize any available Hobby Kits during Crafting Hours, and additional in-house hobbies include mosaic art and air-dry ceramics.
Before using in-house Hobby Library equipment for the first time, users must complete the Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form. Training is provided by library staff and required before using crafting machinery during Crafting Hours.

3D PRINTING ORDERS
Crafting appointments are a great way to learn more about 3D printers or even help you decide if you want to purchase one for yourself. If you are not interested in learning about the machine, but would like to order a 3D printed object, you can do that, too!
The first step of ordering a print is deciding what you want. You can order something you designed yourself, or you can find a design on sites like Thingiverse or Tinkercad. Once you've chosen a design, complete the 3D Print Order Form. In the form, you will include the link to the design you chose. If you already have the file prepared to print, email the file to hillsborolibrary@hillsborotx.org.
Prints are 20 cents per gram of filament. Before printing an ordered object, a librarian will reach out to confirm the price of the order.
HOBBY LIBRARY GUIDELINES
The Hobby Library is intended for adults and interested teens/preteens. Users must be HCL cardholders. Users (those checking out Hobby Kits, or those that have booked a crafting appointment) are expected to abide by the Hobby Library and Crafting Hours Guidelines and any applicable Library Policies at all times.
