Summer Reading Program
Welcome to the Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program!
The Hillsboro City Library encourages you to read for 20 minutes every day this summer. Read aloud to your younger siblings or to your parents, read in your favorite quiet spot, or reread your favorite book again. It doesn't matter how or where you read as long as you're having fun while you do it! So grab a book, get comfortable, and read so that you can log 10 hours of reading this summer and earn some awesome prizes!
Our annual Summer Kickoff Carnival will be on Thursday, June 4th! For the rest of the month of June, we have an amazing lineup of Summer Reading performers on the calendar for you to enjoy. We will be hosting dino experts, magicians, scientists, and more at Historic City Hall! In July, the library will have a number of hands-on activities in available at the library. While you're waiting for the library's next program, be sure to stop by Hillsboro City Park and check out the Library's StoryWalk!
The Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program runs from Monday, June 1, 2026 to Thursday, July 30, 2026! You won't want to miss out on the opportunity to participate in our events. To find out when a particular event is happening, be sure to check the events calendar on the library's website or follow us on Facebook.

Tips to read 10 hours over the summer:

- Visit the Hillsboro City Library and checkout books!
All summer programs and events are open to the public and completely free to attend. Registration is only required to participate in the reading challenge on Beanstack, not to attend programs and events.
