REACH Across Hill County Receives International Library Award

Nonprofit Let's Move in Libraries awards REACH Across Hill County, for their work with the Hillsboro City Library to provide community members with resources and experiences, meeting various social, emotional, and basic needs.

REACH Across Hill County (RAHC) was nominated by the Hillsboro City Library (HCL) for their gracious support of the library and their heart for the community of Hillsboro and Hill County. Most notably, RAHC generously supports HCL’s Dungeons &
Dragons and Community Care Corner programs, serving the public by supporting social connection and providing access to basic hygiene items at no cost to the public. These are important because unmet basic needs, such as social interaction and hygiene, are powerful drivers of first-time substance use and addiction escalation. These programs, and others supported by RAHC, accomplish a two-fold goal of promoting community health and preventing first-time substance use and later misuse, while also providing quality programs for library patrons.
“A key aspect of preventing substance misuse is ensuring people have their basic needs met, and C3 aids us in accomplishing that goal,” said Sabrina Dyer, RAHC Coalition Coordinator, “Libraries, as community hubs of information, resources, activities, and socialization, have a unique avenue into the community that our organization simply could not accomplish on its own.”

The Hillsboro City Library will recognize REACH Across Hill County during an upcoming Friends of the Library author luncheon, featuring Joe R. Lansdale, presenting the organization with an award from Let’s Move in Libraries. For more information about attending the author luncheon, contact HCL at 254-582-7385 or visit in person at 118 S. Waco Street.
On Thursday, November 19, 2026 the international non-profit Let’s Move in Libraries will honor REACH Across Hill County alongside 9 other organizations from across North America and Asia as recipients of the 2026 I Partner with My Public Library Awards in an Awards Ceremony. To virtually attend the 2026 Awards Ceremony, sign up at this link or type go.uncg.edu/partner2026 into your browser.
“These annual awards were started in 2023 after a three-year national (U.S.) study determined that the most impactful public library initiatives require strong community partnerships with a wide range of collaborators. We’re thrilled to shine a light on library partnerships through this endeavor,” said Dr. Noah Lenstra, Founder of Let’s Move In Libraries, a registered 501(C)3 non-profit organization.
In addition to being celebrated at this Awards Ceremony, the partnership between REACH Across Hill County and the Hillsboro City Library is documented and shared on the Let’s Move in Libraries webpage. Read more about the award and the partnership at LetsMoveInLibraries.org/partner-award.
The goal of these annual awards is two-fold: (1) to celebrate the amazing work that is only possible when public libraries collaborate with community partners, and (2) to highlight opportunities for both public libraries and potential community partners to start and extend collaborations.
REACH Across Hill County is a nonprofit organization that works to reduce substance misuse in youth and adults in the county.
