Friends of the Library to Welcome Joe R. Lansdale at Upcoming Author Luncheon

The Friends of Hillsboro City Library invite the public to join them for their next Author Luncheon featuring best-selling author Joe R. Lansdale on Wednesday, November 18th at 12 noon at Historic City Hall located at 127 East Franklin Street in downtown Hillsboro. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased in person at the library, via PayPal, or by contacting the library at 254-582-7385.

Lansdale will be discussing his latest book, “Petrified Dreams,” the 15th book in the Hap and Leonard series and the conclusion to the series. Publishers Weekly describes the book as "a satisfying mystery. . . Lansdale leavens the grimness with splashes of humor. It's a worthy send-off for Hap and Leonard" and author Richard Lange says "This muscle-car paced thriller is by turns funny, gruesome, and sentimental, and with a master like Lansdale pulling the strings, it all comes together beautifully.”

Lansdale is the author of nearly four dozen novels in the suspense, horror and Western genres and has written over 200 short stories as well. He has also edited several anthologies of dark suspense and Western fiction. He has received the British Fantasy Award, the American Mystery Award and eleven Bram Stoker Awards from the Horror Writers of America. He lives with his family in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The Friends of Hillsboro City Library sponsor the Author Luncheon Speaker Series as a community outreach program where they bring noted authors to Hillsboro to discuss their works and the processes they undertook to find their stories. Past authors include Clifton resident and best-selling national author Lisa Wingate, journalists Joe Holley and Ryann Ford, historians Kathryn Smith and Dr. Rose-Mary Rumbley, authors James Wade and Steven L. Davis, sportswriter Marjorie Herrera Lewis, artist George Boutwell, and former Hillsboro native and retired WFAA meteorologist Troy Dungan.
