Language Coordinator Position Open at the Hillsboro City Library

The Hillsboro City Library is hiring a full-time Language Coordinator, who will be responsible for developing and teaching language programs, based on chosen curriculums, and tailoring other programs to the diverse needs of residents, with a focus on promoting literacy, language acquisition, and cultural awareness.
The Language Coordinator will teach English as a Second Language and Spanish Language classes to individuals of varying proficiency levels, using selected curriculum to build lesson plans that meet the needs of students. Responsibilities also include organizing Hispanic cultural events throughout the year, hosting bilingual storytime sessions, and offering translation services for Spanish speaking library users.
Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish, spoken and written, and have a solid knowledge of the Spanish language, spoken and written. A bachelor's degree in education, linguistics, or related field, or equivalent experience in language instruction is required. Previous experience teaching ESL and/or Spanish in a group or classroom setting is preferred. Prior library experience is a plus, but not required.
Applicants should be aware that this is a grant-funded position and continuation is contingent upon continued funding through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s Special Projects Grant program or other sources. The grant funding is scheduled to end on July 31, 2026, and renewal or extension is subject to approval from the funding agency. Applicants should be aware that continuation of the position is not guaranteed beyond the term of the grant.
