The Hillsboro City Library is starting a Seed Library that will be located in the library lobby, and will be filled with various types of seeds. Patrons can "check out" up to 4 packets of seeds per visit. Patrons are also encouraged to harvest seeds from their own gardens to donate back to the Seed Library. To donate seeds, fill out the "Donation Form" with as much information as possible and turn it in with your seeds at the circulation desk. The Seed Library relies on these contributions to keep it growing!

The library will host a Kickoff Event on Saturday, February 15th, starting at 9:00am when the Seed Library will officially be open to the public. Then, at 10:30am, President of the Hillsboro Farmers Market, Melissa Awtrey of Mason Jar Farms will give a gardening presentation. Join us to get tips on how to get started with gardening, or how to better maintain your existing garden. Following the presentation, there will be a plant exchange. Bring plant starts or plant clippings to trade and leave with a new plant! Feel free to stick around for the whole event, or come and go as you please. The event will be held in the library lobby, it's free to attend, and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 254-582-7385.
